Regensburg - 20th October
This morning we visited Regensburg, a city of around 160k. We did a city tour to get our bearings and learn a little about the area. It's one of the oldest towns in Barvaria. Home of the BMW and Audi. We were lucky to have a nice day as it literally translates to rainy town.
The town has similarities to others we have visited but definitely has it's own character. Here there were a number of tower houses in the town that were built purely as status symbols for the rich. A similar concept to the one we stayed in when we were in Italy years ago, but quite tall and skinny so not overly useful.
As we wandered the town we came across a wedding party having photos on the steps of the church in their traditional barvarian outfits. Very cool, but an unusual site seeing a groom and groomsmen wearing their lederhosen, and the bride wearing a dirndl. All the guests were in traditional outfits as well.
Once we had toured the city we had some exciting life admin to attend to.....washing, and getting a new sim card because I had managed to lock myself out of a second sim.
Even the washing ended up being a bit eventful because we didn't have the right change and the washing powder vending machine ate the change we did have, so we manged to find a better one around the corner, which had a pub across the road for us to drink in while we were waiting.
